Just had an invitation to stay at the new Coll Bunkhouse -- a community-owned hostel in Arinagour on the Isle of Coll, to be officially opened by Princess Anne tomorrow. Like all the smaller west coast islands Coll is blessed with a plethora of beaches, abundant wildlife and rugged beauty of Coll, so the bunkhouse will be popular with kayakers, birdwatchers, divers, and walkers. The opening event is a four-day affair, (how island!) headlined by Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham on Thursday evening supported by local musicians, ending with a gig by Tiree-based ceilidh band, Trail West.
The Bunkhouse is a brand new facility, complete with fully equipped kitchen, free wifi, hot showers, laundry facilities and chill-out area – the perfect place to relax. Just like the island, the bunkhouse is small but friendly with space for up to 14 people: www.collbunkhouse.co.uk
- Dorm bed (6 beds per room) - £19 per person per night.
- Twin bed rate (2 beds per room ) - £23 per person per night.
- Price includes bed linen. Towel hire is available for £2.
The bunkhouse has been open since 16th June and has been operating successfully since then. So if you haven't got your summer organized and fancy a wee adventure… get going.
I think that Coll Bunkhouse provides excellent travel option for the people who love to travel islands worldwide. The facilities are really amazing!
