Can't believe how much better the summer weather consistently seems to be in the North West of Scotland these days. The Eigg chaps all look like Mediterraneans and the main hydro has almost run out -- again! Thankfully the wind and solar systems of Eiggtricity are kicking in. We were over last weekend for our tenth wedding anniversary staying at Kildonan House B&B – the best in the West!
This pic is from the top of the Squrr - the basalt slab that gives Eigg its name (means "notch" in Gaelic I believe). A sheer cliff from direction of arrival it's easily climbed from the side (take the path marked by a cairn straight after the last house and approach from the RHS). Mind you with dodgy knee it was murder coming down -- I wound up using the two walking sticks together like a zimmer. Still hopeful I'll have a wee knee op this summer – meantime well worth it for fabulous views from Barra in the south west to Torridon and maybe An Teallach in the north.
